DEVELOP AN EXAMPLE FINANCIAL MODEL OF FEEDLOT AND MUNICIPAL ORGANIC WASTE ONLINE
The Nebraska Feedlot Composting Project promotes cooperation among private businesses and municipalities to create a valuable product, compost, from feedlot manure and municipal organic wastes. This results in a valuable, nutrient-rich product that can be applied to fields to help reduce water run-off, retain nutrients, and provide an overall environmental benefit.
This online tool allows you to create a unique financial model for the proposed operation. You can use pre-loaded information or customize it for your project. You will create an account, which allows you to modify the inputs. You can print the full data and results or just specific reports. You can see the Inputs Needed before you begin. Once you start putting in the variables, you’ll want to finish in a single session. Or, if you can’t finish, you’ll need to press “submit” and come back to it when you're ready to resume. So if you’re ready to get started, gather your basic equipment and operational data and select “START HERE"
The challenge of such an operation is to balance the costs with revenues to produce a product that is affordable and still makes a profit for the business.

The Nebraska Feedlot Composting project was funded by a grant from the Nebraska Environmental Trust.

The Nebraska Recycling Council's mission is to maximize the economic and environmental benefits of resource recovery in Nebraska.
